Best Trading Brokers 2026: 5 Regulated Brokers Compared (and How to Get Signals Free)

Compare the 5 best trading brokers of 2026 — Base Markets, ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com. Regulation, spreads, platforms and how to unlock our signals free.

At a glance

The best trading brokers in 2026 are regulated, low-cost and match the way you actually trade. Our top five are Base Markets (rank 1 — the only one that unlocks our full trading signals free), ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com. Base Markets leads for our readers because a $400 deposit through our link — capital that stays yours to trade — unlocks the signals free; the other four are excellent, heavily regulated brokers you can also run our signals on via the Telegram subscription.

  • Base Markets — rank 1: deposits from $0, spreads from 0.0 pips on MT5, and our full signals free with a $400 deposit that stays yours
  • ActivTrades — rank 2: long-established, FCA-regulated, strong platform range
  • XM — rank 3: huge global brand, $5 minimum, MT4/MT5, swap-free without wider spreads
  • Pepperstone — rank 4: seven regulators (ASIC, FCA, CySEC…), 0.0-pip Razor spreads, four platforms
  • Capital.com — rank 5: FCA/CySEC/ASIC regulated, 3,000+ markets, $20 minimum, award-winning app
  • How we rank: transparently — Base Markets is first because of the free-signals offer, and we say so; every review states the cons, not just the pros
Free Trading Signals 2026: The Broker You Need To Open An Account With

The 5 best trading brokers of 2026 at a glance

A trading broker is the company that gives you access to the markets — forex, gold, indices, oil and crypto — and executes your orders. The best trading brokers share four things: real regulation, low and transparent costs, a platform you trust, and fast, reliable execution. Everything else is a matter of fit.

Below are the five brokers we rank, in order. The most important thing to understand up front is *how* we rank them, because we are an affiliate: we earn a commission when you open an account through our links, and one of these brokers — Base Markets — also unlocks our trading signals for free. We put Base Markets first for that reason, and we state it openly rather than pretending the order is purely objective. The other four are genuinely excellent brokers, several of them more heavily regulated than our number one, and we tell you exactly where each one is stronger.

How we rank brokers — and why regulation comes first

We judge every broker on the same four criteria: regulation and fund safety, total cost (spreads plus commission), platform and execution, and account terms such as minimum deposit and swap-free availability. Ratings are editorial and explained in full on our methodology page.

Regulation matters more than any marketing claim. A broker licensed by a tier-one authority — the UK's FCA, Australia's ASIC, Cyprus's CySEC — must segregate your money from its own, meet capital requirements and, for retail clients in most regions, provide negative-balance protection. On that measure Pepperstone and Capital.com are the most regulated brokers on this list. Our number-one pick, Base Markets, is licensed by the FSC in Mauritius; it earns rank 1 for our readers because of the free-signals offer, not because it is the most regulated — and that is an honest distinction we want you to weigh yourself.

No broker removes market risk. Regulation lowers the odds of operational problems — frozen withdrawals, misused funds — but you can still lose money trading leveraged products. Start with a demo and an amount you can afford to lose, whichever broker you choose.

Base Markets — rank 1, and the only free-signals route

Base Markets is our recommended broker for one concrete reason: open an account through our link, deposit $400 — which stays in your account as your own trading capital — and you unlock our complete trading signals service free, the same feed our paying subscribers receive. Add deposits from $0, spreads from 0.0 pips and the full MetaTrader 5 platform, and it is the lowest-friction way for our readers to start. Read the full Base Markets review and the free signals guide.

If free signals are your priority, this is the path. If you would rather use a more heavily regulated broker, take one of the four below and subscribe to the signals through our Telegram bot instead — the calls are identical.

ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com — the alternatives

ActivTrades (rank 2) is a long-established, FCA-regulated broker with a strong own platform alongside MT4 and MT5 — a solid, trustworthy all-rounder. See the ActivTrades review.

XM (rank 3) is one of the world's largest brokers, with a $5 minimum, MT4 and MT5, and swap-free accounts that notably do not widen spreads. A dependable global choice — the XM review has the detail.

Pepperstone (rank 4) is among the most regulated brokers we list — seven authorities including ASIC, FCA and CySEC — with 0.0-pip Razor spreads and a rare four-platform line-up (MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView). Ideal for scalpers and algo traders; see the Pepperstone review.

Capital.com (rank 5) pairs FCA, CySEC and ASIC regulation with 3,000+ markets, a $20 minimum and one of the best apps in the industry. Great for breadth and a modern experience — the Capital.com review covers it.

Every one of these four is an excellent broker. The only thing they do not carry is our exclusive free-signals deal — that runs through Base Markets alone.

Best broker for MetaTrader 5 (MT5) — and for MT4

MetaTrader is where most signal traders actually place their orders, and which version a broker runs is the question we are asked most often. The two are not interchangeable. MT5 is the newer build, with more timeframes, more order types and a built-in economic calendar. MT4 is the older, lighter standard, with the deepest library of third-party indicators and expert advisors. Neither is universally better — what matters is which one your broker supports, and which one you already know how to use.

Base Markets, our number one, runs exclusively on MetaTrader 5 across web, desktop and mobile, with no MT4 at all — the only broker of our five without MT4. Every other broker we rank, including Capital.com, supports both MT4 and MT5.

For MT5, Pepperstone gives the widest set-up — MT5 alongside MT4, cTrader and TradingView, on 0.0-pip Razor spreads with ASIC, FCA and CySEC oversight. Base Markets is MT5-only, but it is the one broker here that unlocks our signals free. For MT4, XM has the lowest barrier at a $5 minimum deposit, while ActivTrades adds FCA regulation and its own ActivTrader platform. Every signal we publish carries an exact entry, take-profit and stop-loss, so it executes the same way on MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView — the platform changes the interface, not the trade.

Which broker should you choose?

If you want our signals free and a simple, low-cost start, choose Base Markets and follow the $400 deposit route. If tier-one regulation and the tightest execution matter most, choose Pepperstone or Capital.com and take the paid signal subscription. If you want a big, familiar global name, XM or ActivTrades fit well.

Whatever you pick, the signals themselves are the same — each with a defined entry, take-profit and stop-loss, and a fully published weekly track record you can check before you commit. Compare both ways to get them on the signals page.

Frequently asked questions

For our readers the best all-round choice is Base Markets, because a $400 deposit through our link unlocks our full trading signals free and the capital stays yours to trade. If you weigh regulation above all, Pepperstone and Capital.com — both FCA- and ASIC-regulated — are the strongest. We explain the ranking openly on our methodology page.

Only Base Markets unlocks our signals for free, and only when you open through our link and deposit $400 (that money remains your trading capital). ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com are excellent brokers, but our calls on them require the paid Telegram subscription.

On regulation, both Pepperstone and Capital.com are more heavily licensed than Base Markets (FCA and ASIC versus Mauritius's FSC), and we say so plainly. Base Markets ranks first for our readers only because of the free-signals offer. Read the Pepperstone and Capital.com reviews and decide by what matters to you.

All five brokers we rank support MT5: Base Markets, ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com. Pepperstone has the widest MT5 set-up — MT5 alongside MT4, cTrader and TradingView, with 0.0-pip Razor spreads and ASIC, FCA and CySEC regulation. Base Markets runs exclusively on MT5 and is the only broker here that unlocks our trading signals free, via a $400 deposit that stays in your account as your own capital.

ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com all support MT4. Base Markets does not — it runs exclusively on MetaTrader 5. XM has the lowest barrier to MT4 at a $5 minimum deposit; ActivTrades and Pepperstone are both FCA-regulated, and Pepperstone additionally offers cTrader and TradingView. Our signals carry an exact entry, take-profit and stop-loss, so they execute identically on MT4 or MT5.

Yes — all five hold licences from recognised regulators: FCA, ASIC, CySEC, DFSA, FSC and others, requiring segregated client funds and KYC. Regulation reduces operational risk but never removes market risk, so trade only with money you can afford to lose.

Base Markets, ActivTrades and Pepperstone have effectively no minimum ($0), XM starts at $5, and Capital.com at $20. To unlock our free signals specifically, the route is a $400 deposit at Base Markets, which stays yours to trade.

Yes. Our signals are broker-independent — each includes a clear entry, take-profit and stop-loss you can place on any of these five brokers (or another). Get them free via Base Markets, or via the paid Telegram bot on whichever broker you prefer.

Trading forex, CFDs and crypto carries a real risk of losing money and isn't suitable for everyone — our signals are analyst opinions and general information, not personal financial advice, and past performance is no guarantee of future results.
