Is Pepperstone a scam?
No. A scam broker hides who it is. Pepperstone does the opposite: every company in the group is named, registered and listed with a regulator, and each licence number can be checked on that regulator's public register in a few minutes.
The real question for a trader in Dubai or Abu Dhabi is not whether Pepperstone exists, but which Pepperstone company you will sign with and what that company's licence allows. The answer changes your protections, so this page goes through it licence by licence.
If the checks below satisfy you, you can open a Pepperstone account and test it on the demo before you deposit. Note that residents of the United States cannot open a Pepperstone account.
Is Pepperstone regulated by the FCA?
Yes. Pepperstone Limited, registered in England and Wales, is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority with Firm Reference Number 684312. UK clients are onboarded by this company. The FCA is one of seven regulators that license a Pepperstone entity.
An FCA licence does not follow you to Dubai. A UAE resident is normally served by a different entity, so the FCA number is a sign of the group's standards, not a promise of UK protections for you.

Is Pepperstone regulated in the UAE?
Yes, through two companies with very different roles. Pepperstone Financial Services (DIFC) Ltd is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority under reference F004356. Pepperstone Financial Services LLC holds UAE Capital Market Authority licence 20200000358, but that licence covers introduction and financial consultation only. It does not allow the company to deal with retail traders.
We cannot confirm which entity onboards every UAE retail client. Before you fund, read the company name in your client agreement. If it says DIFC and DFSA, that is the regulator you can complain to.
Pepperstone in the UAE: who does what
| Company | Regulator | What the licence covers |
|---|---|---|
| Pepperstone Financial Services (DIFC) Ltd | DFSA, reference F004356 | Regulated financial services in the DIFC |
| Pepperstone Financial Services LLC | UAE CMA, licence 20200000358 | Introduction and financial consultation only, not retail dealing |
How does Pepperstone protect a trader's money?
Regulated entities must keep client money separate from the company's own funds. That protects you if the broker fails. It does nothing to protect you from a trade going wrong.
Under the FCA, ASIC and CySEC, retail clients cannot use more than 1:30 leverage on major currency pairs. Some other entities offer up to 1:500. We do not state a UAE leverage figure: check the cap on your own account page. Negative-balance protection applies to retail clients in the UK, the EU and Germany, and in most other regions. Confirm it for your entity in the client agreement.
