What commission per lot do Australian forex brokers charge?

What commission per lot do Australian forex brokers charge?

What commission per lot do Australian forex brokers charge? At Pepperstone, AUD 3.50 per side on Razor (AUD 7 round turn) on MT5; Standard has no commission.

At a glance

On a raw-spread account, Australian forex commission is usually quoted per standard lot, per side. At Pepperstone, our first pick, the Razor account costs AUD 3.50 per side on MT5, or AUD 7 for a round turn, on top of raw spreads from 0.0 pips. Its Standard account charges no commission and builds the cost into the spread. At Best Trading Signal (BestTradingSignal.com) we rank Capital.com second, an ASIC-licensed broker with no trading commission, and XS third, whose Elite account charges $6 per lot round turn but holds no ASIC licence.

  • Pepperstone Razor (MT5, AUD account): AUD 3.50 per lot per side, AUD 7 round turn
  • MT4 is billed differently: AUD 7 per lot, charged when the position opens
  • cTrader forex: USD 3 per side, USD 6 round trip
  • Standard account: no commission; a 1-point forex mark-up sits inside the spread
  • No inactivity fee at Pepperstone; very small, unused accounts may be archived
  • High risk: Pepperstone's Australian site publishes no loss percentage; costs are small next to the risk of losing your deposit

How much commission does Pepperstone charge per lot in Australia?

On the Razor account, the figure depends on the platform and your account currency. On an AUD account using MT5, it is AUD 3.50 per standard lot each time you open or close, so AUD 7 for a full trade. MT4 charges the same total, AUD 7 per lot, but takes it all when the position opens. Spot gold (XAU/USD) on MT5 costs AUD 4.50 per side.

The Standard account charges no commission at all on forex; you pay through a wider spread instead. Index and crypto CFDs carry no commission on either account. If the Razor model suits your volume, you can open a Pepperstone account and choose it at sign-up.

Which Australian CFD brokers offer raw spreads from 0.0 pips?

Among our three brokers, Pepperstone does: its Razor account shows raw forex spreads from 0.0 pips, and Pepperstone publishes an average of 0.1 pips on EUR/USD, plus commission. 'From 0.0' is a minimum, not what every trade gets; spreads widen around news and at the daily rollover.

Capital.com, our second pick, holds an ASIC licence but prices through the spread with no commission, so it does not sell a raw-spread account in the same sense. XS, our third, has an Elite account from 0.1 pips on EUR/USD plus $6 per lot round turn, with a $500 minimum, but XS is not ASIC-licensed.

Which ASIC regulated forex broker has the lowest commission?

Capital.com charges no trading commission, so on that single measure it is the lowest of our three. That does not make it the cheapest to trade, because its cost sits in the spread, and we do not publish a Capital.com spread figure. Commission alone never tells you the full price.

Among commission-based accounts, Pepperstone publishes the full table, including the per-side rate for each account currency. The rate differs by account currency, so compare it in the currency you will actually hold.

Which Australian brokers charge no inactivity fee?

Pepperstone charges no inactivity or account-keeping fee. It does say that accounts holding fewer than 10 units of currency and left unused for three months or more may be archived; Pepperstone does not list a fee for this. We have not verified the inactivity terms of Capital.com or XS, so read their fee pages before you leave an account idle.

Do Australian brokers charge a currency conversion fee?

Some do, and it is easy to miss. Pepperstone's pages that we checked do not publish a conversion fee figure, so ask its support before you rely on that. You can reduce conversions yourself: Pepperstone offers six base currencies in Australia (AUD, USD, EUR, GBP, SGD and HKD), so an Australian funding from an AUD bank account can keep deposits and withdrawals in dollars.

Profits and losses on pairs like EUR/USD are still worked out in another currency and turned into your base currency. That conversion is part of every CFD trade, whether or not a separate fee is shown.

Where Pepperstone's commission model costs you

  • Razor needs volume: if you trade a few lots a month, the fixed commission matters more than the raw spread.
  • Gold costs more on Razor MT5: AUD 4.50 per side instead of AUD 3.50.
  • Standard loses MT4 and TradingView: in Australia, those platforms come only with Razor.
  • No published conversion fee: you have to ask what a currency switch costs.
  • Share CFDs carry commission on both accounts: 0.07% per side on Australian shares.

How do commissions add up when you follow Best Trading Signal?

Each Best Trading Signal alert gives an entry, a take-profit and a stop-loss, so you can work out the cost before you trade: spread plus commission, against the distance to your take-profit. Ten round-turn lots a month on Pepperstone Razor MT5 cost AUD 70 in commission, plus spreads. On Pepperstone, the alerts come through a paid plan on our Telegram bot.

The free route uses XS: open an XS account through our link and deposit $400, which remains your trading capital. Remember that XS is not ASIC-licensed. Every closed signal is on our performance page. Past results do not guarantee future results, and no signal is certain to win.

Checklist: comparing commission per lot

Disclosure: we may earn a commission from Pepperstone, Capital.com and XS if you open an account through our links. That does not change what we publish about them. This page is general education, not personal investment advice.

Risk warning (Pepperstone): Pepperstone's Australian site publishes no loss percentage; read its PDS and Target Market Determination before you trade. Elsewhere, 73.6% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading spread bets and CFDs with this provider under the FCA, 74.1% under CySEC, 76.1% under BaFin, 80% under the SCB and 88% under the CMA (Kenya). You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

  • Use round turn: compare open plus close, never one side against a full trade.
  • Match the platform: MT4, MT5 and cTrader bill commission in different ways.
  • Add the spread: commission plus the average spread is your real cost.
  • Pick your base currency: an AUD account avoids converting each deposit.
  • Check the licence: confirm ASIC regulation before price.

Frequently asked questions

It varies by broker, platform and account. At Pepperstone, Razor costs AUD 3.50 per standard lot per side on MT5 with an AUD account, or AUD 7 for a round turn; MT4 charges AUD 7 when you open. Its Standard account, and Capital.com, charge no commission and price through the spread instead.

There is no single answer, because the cheapest account depends on how much you trade, which pairs, and when. Frequent traders often pay less on raw spreads plus commission; occasional traders may prefer spread-only pricing. Test your own pairs on a demo and add spread, commission and overnight funding before you decide.

On Pepperstone's MT5, TradingView, cTrader and its own platform, yes: half when you open and half when you close. On MT4, Pepperstone charges the full round-turn amount when the position opens. The total is the same, but MT4 shows it all on the opening trade.

No. Pepperstone charges no commission on index CFDs on either account; your cost is the spread plus any overnight funding. Its published average spread on US500, for example, is 0.4 on Razor and 0.5 on Standard. Share CFDs are different: Australian shares cost 0.07% per side.

Add three parts. The spread: multiply the pips by the pip value, which is $10 per standard lot on pairs quoted in US dollars. The commission: round turn, such as AUD 7 on Pepperstone Razor MT5. And overnight funding, if you hold past the daily cut-off. Run the sum before every new strategy.

Trading forex, CFDs and crypto carries a substantial risk of loss and is not suitable for every investor — our signals are analyst opinions, not guaranteed profits, and past performance does not guarantee future results.
