Does Pepperstone offer perpetual CFDs?

Does Pepperstone offer perpetual CFDs?

Does Pepperstone offer perpetual CFDs? Yes: perps on gold, oil, NAS100, US500 and shares like NVDA, with no expiry. In the UK they are for professionals only.

In het kort

Yes. Pepperstone offers perpetual CFDs: contracts with no expiry on gold, WTI and Brent oil, NAS100, US500 and shares such as NVDA, TSLA and MSTR, trading 24/7 with a funding rate set weekly in advance. In Australia, Pepperstone charges 0.015% per side, or 0.03% on gold and MSTR. In the UK, perps are for professional clients only, and Australia, the EU and the UAE do not publish retail eligibility. Pepperstone is our first pick for this product. At Best Trading Signal (BestTradingSignal.com) we rank Capital.com second and XS third.

  • What they are: CFDs with no expiry date, on indices, commodities and single shares
  • Funding: a rate set weekly in advance and applied daily at 5 pm New York time
  • Australian commission: 0.015% per side, 0.03% on GOLD PERP and MSTR PERP
  • Platforms: TradingView, MT5, cTrader and the Pepperstone app
  • Who can trade them: UK professionals only; retail eligibility not published in Australia, the EU or the UAE
  • High risk: Pepperstone's Australian site publishes no loss percentage; under the SCB, 80% of its retail accounts lose money

Where are Pepperstone's perpetual CFDs available?

Pepperstone lists perpetual CFDs on its Australian, EU, German and UAE sites, and on the professional pages of its UK site. Who may trade them is the open question. In the UK they are for professional clients only. In Australia, the EU, Germany and the UAE, the product pages do not say whether retail clients can trade them.

So ask before you fund for this product. Tell Pepperstone your country and client category and ask for written confirmation. If perps are open to you, you can open a Pepperstone account and find them on TradingView, MT5, cTrader or the Pepperstone app.

What perpetual CFDs does Pepperstone offer?

Pepperstone's Australian costs page lists 17 perps: two indices, three commodities and twelve single names, including Korean and Chinese technology companies. How do perpetual CFDs work?

A perpetual CFD tracks a market price with no expiry date, so you can hold it for as long as your margin allows. Instead of rolling from one contract to the next, you pay or receive a funding amount each day. Pepperstone's perps trade 24/7, so a gold or NAS100 perp keeps quoting at the weekend, when the underlying market is shut.

As with any CFD, you never own the asset and you can go long or short. You do not need a crypto wallet, even though the perpetual format comes from crypto markets.

How does funding work on perpetual CFDs?

At Pepperstone, the funding rate is set weekly in advance and applied daily at 5 pm New York time to positions open at that moment. Because the rate is published before the week starts, you know the daily cost before you hold.

That differs from an ordinary CFD's overnight financing, which is usually worked out each day from interest rates. It also differs from exchange-traded perpetual futures, where the rate floats with market prices.

Perpetual CFD vs perpetual futures — what's the difference?

Both have no expiry and both use funding. The difference is where they trade and who sets the funding. Perpetual futures trade on an exchange, mostly in crypto, and funding passes between buyers and sellers at frequent intervals as the price drifts from its index. A Pepperstone perpetual CFD is a contract with Pepperstone itself, and Pepperstone sets the funding a week ahead.

What Pepperstone's perps cannot yet promise

  • Unclear retail access: outside the UK, Pepperstone does not say whether retail clients can trade them.
  • UK retail excluded: perps are for professional clients only.
  • No funding figure here: rates change weekly, so we cannot quote a holding cost.
  • Weekend pricing: a perp keeps moving while the underlying market is closed, so gaps can form against you.
  • Not on MT4: the published platforms are TradingView, MT5, cTrader and the Pepperstone app.
  • A new product: it has little track record compared with standard CFDs.

Can you trade Best Trading Signal's index and gold alerts as perps?

You can, if Pepperstone accepts you for the product, but plan for the extra cost. Best Trading Signal covers gold, oil and indices including Nasdaq, and each alert gives an entry, a take-profit and a stop-loss. A perp's price can differ slightly from the standard CFD's, so check the levels against the perp's own quote. Add the commission and the daily funding to your sums. If you trade on Pepperstone, you get the alerts by paid subscription to our Telegram bot.

The free route is via XS: open an XS account through our link and deposit $400, which stays your own trading capital. You can review each closed signal on our performance page. Past results do not guarantee future results, and no signal is certain to win.

Checklist before your first perpetual CFD trade

If you are new to crypto-style products, read our guide to crypto signals for futures trading. When you have checked eligibility, open your Pepperstone account here.

Disclosure: we may earn a commission from Pepperstone, Capital.com and XS if you open an account through our links. That does not change what we publish about them. This page is general education, not personal investment advice.

Risk warning (Pepperstone): Pepperstone's Australian and UAE sites show no loss percentage. 73.6% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading spread bets and CFDs with this provider under the FCA, 74.1% under CySEC, 76.1% under BaFin, 80% under the SCB and 88% under the CMA (Kenya). The figure depends on the entity your account is opened with. You should consider whether you understand how CFDs work and whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

  • Confirm eligibility: get written confirmation for your country and client category.
  • Read the week's funding rate: before you open, not after.
  • Add the commission: 0.015% or 0.03% per side in Australia.
  • Plan for weekends: size the trade for moves when the underlying market is shut.
  • Use a supported platform: TradingView, MT5, cTrader or the Pepperstone app.

Veelgestelde vragen

Yes. Pepperstone lists perpetual CFDs on gold, WTI and Brent oil, NAS100, US500 and single shares such as NVDA, TSLA and MSTR. They have no expiry, trade 24/7 and use a funding rate set weekly in advance. In the UK they are for professional clients only; elsewhere, retail eligibility is not published.

It has useful features: a funding rate known a week ahead, 24/7 trading, published commission in Australia and four supported platforms. Pepperstone also says it fills orders from 50 milliseconds with a 99.32% fill rate; that is its own claim. The weak point is access: retail eligibility is unpublished outside the UK, where perps are pro-only.

A standard CFD on an index or commodity either has no fixed term with daily overnight financing, or is a forward with an expiry date. A perpetual CFD never expires and uses a funding rate set weekly in advance. Perps also trade 24/7, while standard CFDs follow the underlying market's hours.

It depends on that week's funding rate, which Pepperstone sets in advance, so we cannot quote one figure. Add commission in Australia: on a $10,000 NAS100 perp, 0.015% per side is $1.50 to open and $1.50 to close; on a gold perp, 0.03% is $3 each way. Check the funding rate before you hold.

Pepperstone does not say. It has no MAS licence and routes Singapore visitors to its Bahamas-run international site, whose retail margin table lists five perps: GOLD, NAS100, US500, WTOIL and BRENTOIL. It publishes no statement on whether Singapore residents may open an account, so ask Pepperstone in writing first.
