Best MT5 Brokers 2026: Which Brokers Actually Run MetaTrader 5

Which brokers really run MetaTrader 5 in 2026? We compare MT5 support, spreads, minimum deposits and regulation across 5 brokers — and name the one that is MT5-only.

En resumen

All five brokers we rank support MetaTrader 5: Base Markets, ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com. For the widest MT5 set-up, Pepperstone pairs MT5 with MT4, cTrader and TradingView on 0.0-pip Razor spreads under ASIC, FCA and CySEC. Base Markets is MT5-only and is the single broker here that unlocks our trading signals free, via a $400 deposit that stays your own capital. Every signal we publish carries an exact entry, take-profit and stop-loss, so it executes identically on MT5, MT4 or any other platform.

  • All 5 brokers support MT5 — Base Markets, ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone, Capital.com
  • Base Markets is MT5-only (no MT4 at all) — and the only route to our signals free, with a $400 deposit that stays yours
  • Widest MT5 set-up: Pepperstone — MT5 + MT4 + cTrader + TradingView, 0.0-pip Razor spreads, ASIC/FCA/CySEC
  • Lowest barrier to MT5: XM at a $5 minimum deposit, with genuine swap-free accounts that do not widen spreads
  • MT5 is not simply newer-is-better — MT4 still has the deeper library of indicators and expert advisors
  • Trading is risky. No platform, broker or signal removes that — never trade money you cannot afford to lose

Which brokers support MetaTrader 5 in 2026?

MetaTrader 5 is the platform most signal traders actually execute on, and the first thing worth knowing is that MT5 support is not universal — even among well-known, well-regulated brokers. Of the five brokers we rank, all five now run MT5.

Base Markets is the only outlier — it runs exclusively on MetaTrader 5 with no MT4 option at all. Every other broker we rank, including Capital.com, supports both MT4 and MT5 alongside its other platforms.

MT5 vs MT4 — what actually changes

MT5 is not simply a newer MT4. They are separate platforms that do not share indicators, expert advisors or account logins. Choosing between them is a real decision, not an upgrade path.

MT5 adds more timeframes (21 against MT4's 9), more order types including true depth-of-market, a built-in economic calendar, and a faster strategy tester. It also handles exchange-traded instruments such as shares more naturally, which is why brokers with broad stock offerings tend to push it.

MT4 remains the older, lighter standard — and it keeps one decisive advantage: the deepest library of third-party indicators and expert advisors anywhere in retail trading. If you already depend on a specific EA or custom indicator, check which platform it was written for before you pick a broker. Porting is not automatic.

For following our signals, either works. Every call we publish states an exact entry, take-profit and stop-loss, and both platforms place all three order types natively. The platform changes the interface, not the trade.

Best MT5 broker for the widest platform choice: Pepperstone

Pepperstone (rank 4 in our broker ranking) offers the broadest platform line-up of any broker we list: MT5, MT4, cTrader and TradingView. Spreads start at 0.0 pips on the Razor account with a clear per-lot commission, and it is regulated by seven authorities including ASIC, FCA and CySEC — making it, alongside Capital.com, one of the two most heavily regulated brokers on our list.

That combination suits two groups in particular: traders who want MT5 but are not certain they will stay on it, and algo traders who may want to move a strategy between MT5, cTrader and TradingView without changing broker. Full detail in the Pepperstone review.

The MT5-only option: Base Markets, and the free-signals route

Base Markets runs exclusively on MetaTrader 5 — web, desktop and mobile. There is no MT4. For a trader who is happy on MT5, that is not a limitation so much as a simplification; for anyone tied to an MT4 expert advisor, it is a hard blocker worth knowing before you register.

Base Markets is our rank-1 broker for one disclosed reason: open an account through our link, deposit $400 — which stays in your account as your own trading capital, not a fee — and our complete signals service unlocks free, the same feed paying subscribers receive. We are an affiliate and we earn a commission, and we say plainly that Base Markets is licensed by the FSC in Mauritius and is not the most heavily regulated broker on this list — Pepperstone and Capital.com are. It earns rank 1 on the offer, not on regulation. See the Base Markets review and our methodology.

Cheapest way onto MT5: XM at a $5 minimum

If the goal is simply to get onto MetaTrader 5 with minimal commitment, XM has the lowest barrier of any MT5 broker we rank: a $5 minimum deposit, full MT4 and MT5 support, and spreads from 0.6 pips on the Ultra Low account. Its Zero account offers near-zero spreads in exchange for roughly $3.5 per side in commission.

XM is also the strongest option here for swap-free trading. Its Islamic accounts are genuinely swap-free and do not widen spreads in compensation — a distinction that matters, because recovering the swap through a wider spread is a common practice elsewhere. We cover this in full in the Islamic trading accounts guide. The XM review has the rest.

How to choose your MT5 broker

Work through it in this order. First, regulation — if tier-one oversight is your priority, Pepperstone (ASIC, FCA, CySEC) is the strongest MT5 option we list. Second, cost — Pepperstone's 0.0-pip Razor and XM's Zero account are the tightest, but both carry commission, so compare total cost rather than the headline spread. Third, barrier to entry — XM at $5, or Base Markets and Pepperstone at $0.

Fourth, and only if it applies to you: the platform lock. If you need MT4 as well as MT5, rule out Base Markets — it runs MT5 only. If you need cTrader specifically, only Pepperstone offers it. Everything else is preference.

Whatever you choose, no broker and no platform removes market risk. Leveraged trading can lose money quickly. Start on a demo account, size positions so a single loss cannot damage you, and read our published weekly track record — including the losing weeks — before committing real capital.

Preguntas frecuentes

All five brokers we rank support MT5: Base Markets, ActivTrades, XM, Pepperstone and Capital.com. Base Markets is the only one of the five that runs MT5 exclusively, with no MT4 option.

For the widest set-up, Pepperstone — MT5 alongside MT4, cTrader and TradingView, with 0.0-pip Razor spreads and regulation from ASIC, FCA and CySEC. For the lowest barrier to entry, XM at a $5 minimum deposit. For free access to our trading signals, Base Markets, which is MT5-only and unlocks the signals with a $400 deposit that stays your own capital.

Not universally. MT5 has more timeframes, more order types, depth of market, a built-in economic calendar and a faster strategy tester. MT4 has the deeper library of third-party indicators and expert advisors. They are separate platforms and do not share EAs or indicators, so if you rely on a specific tool, check which platform it was written for before choosing a broker.

Yes. Every signal we publish carries an exact entry, take-profit and stop-loss, and MT5 places all three natively. The signals are identical whichever platform or broker you use — the platform changes the interface, not the trade.

Base Markets and Pepperstone both start from $0, though around $200 is a sensible working balance at Pepperstone. XM requires $5. Note that a low minimum is not the same as low cost — spreads, commission and position sizing matter far more, which we cover in the low deposit brokers guide.

Base Markets, XM and Pepperstone all offer swap-free accounts on request; ActivTrades and Capital.com offer them in a limited list of countries. XM is notable for not widening spreads in exchange for swap-free status. Availability varies by regulated entity and country of residence, so confirm the terms at registration.

Yes. MT5 itself is free to download on web, desktop and mobile — you get access through your broker account. What you pay is the broker's trading cost: the spread, and a commission on accounts such as Pepperstone's Razor or XM's Zero.

Yes, through Base Markets. Open an account via our link and deposit $400 — the money stays in your account as your own trading capital — and the complete signals service unlocks free on MT5. Alternatively, use any broker you prefer and subscribe through our Telegram bot; the calls are identical either way.
